Therefore it had been hosted in the that university for over 6 years, accessed via http://acm.hust.edu.cn/vjudge. However the network environment in university is too restricted and tough. The network administrator just cut off access from outside of the university now and then, without notification in advance. After enduring it for 100 times, eventually Virtual Judge decided to move out from the university in Sept 7th, 2016, which is now accessed via https://vjudge.net. That's one reason why "Virtual Judge" had always been commonly referred to as "HUST".

Another reason is that, as this website become the de facto most popular "OJ proxy", the name "Virtual Judge" is not only regarded as a single website from years ago any more. It's treated as a new mode -- a website with/having "OJ proxy" feature. Afterwards, many OJs supporting "OJ proxy" feature announced they have "Virtual Judge" feature, including those who even had this feature before this site. Therefore, to distinguish from other "Virtual Judge"s, people liked to refer to this website as "HUST".

It's OK to name it as "Virtual Judge", "vjudge", or "HUST" today. But the first two are recommended, personally.

![](http://i.imgur.com/te2uk8e.jpg =800x350)

---
First published at [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/virtualjudge/photos/a.1060429447307535.1073741827.1060425797307900/1427696347247508/?type=3&theater)
